Big Brothers Big Sisters - www.bigbrothersbigsisters.org.au

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Australia was established in 2002 to assist the development of Big Brothers Big Sisters nationally. They are a non-for-profit organisation aiming to provide mentors for young people.

Friday Media was engaged to create a new portal for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Australia to allow the general public to find more information about them, their services, programs and offerings. The site was also designed to highlight the organisations goals and priorities, allow the public to make donations and provide staff members access to specific restricted areas of the website.

The main objectives of the website were:

  • Generate donations online
  • Provide information about the organisation
  • Allow members or staff to login to access restricted content
  • Providing an easy to maintain website solution that looks clean and modern

To tackle these, Friday Media developed a range of solutions including:

  • A specialised secure environment to manage and present both one-off and recurring donations online, including storing of individual receipts
  • Tools to enable the management of website banners, integrated into the Content Management System
  • A simple FAQ manager to allow questions to be added, removed and deleted
  • Backend support to allow access for different groups of members/staff to specific areas of the website

The website was a pertinent one to Friday, as our Senior Developer James Witika joined the Big Brother Big Sisters programme as a Big Brother in May 2008. It is due to go live at the end of April 2010.
